Big Old Bears

We’ve just launched a new website for local Perth band, Big Old Bears. This straight forward site is the perfect platform to display the fantastic 1920′s sounds coming from this talented young band.

After only being together for a short time the Big Old Bears have already a lot to talk about with new EP titled ‘Tales Of You’ out in stores now, they’ve won a WAMI (West Australian Music Industry) award for ‘Song of the Year’ in the Blues and Roots section and they have quite a few shows coming up around Perth. We feel so lucky to have been able to work with such an exciting young group of creative people. Make sure to check out the Big Old Bears if you get the chance.

Hunter Global Project

We are very excited to finally ‘show off’ one of our recent collaborations for a charity group known as Hunter Global Project. A few weeks ago we were approached by a close friend to loan our design skills for branding and website design in a very special project run by a very ambitious person.

This nonprofit charity was founded by Hunter Douglas Evans in 2009 at the age of 9 years old, Hunter decided that it can be possible to help less fortunate young people around the world that need our help. The sole purpose of this non-profit charity is to establish ongoing financial assistance to children in third world countries by helping provide acceptable education, health care and to basically provide a more improved life and future to the children that are living in severe poverty around the world that do not have hope for the future.

Once we heard this story we could not but pitch in and help. Working along with developers at Mammoth VPS we have created the brand identity, put this great design and CMS together within a matter of weeks. We don’t mess around!

We really urge everybody to help support Hunter and his goal to help the less fortunate in the world, we can all learn a lot from this young man.

Kill The Spill: What You Can Do.

Kill The Spill | Oil Spill Remediation

Some awesome tech companies have banded together for the greater good and to encourage the rest of us Internet-savvy types to donate our hard-earned to do the same.
Donations made via Kill The Spill go to toward helping the National Wildlife Federation continue their amazing rescue of animals on the oil-stricken Southern beaches. Even better is the fact that Campaign Monitor, MetaLab, Squarespace and WooThemes will match your donation.

Please make a donation to this worthwhile cause and help the animals affected by the oil spill. We did.

Fashion.

With a new winter season upon us we felt our Brunky characters needed a costume change too.

Point and click your way off the island.

We wish this were a real game in the same vein as Monkey Island!

Now that the final curtain has fallen on our favourite television show of the past 6 years, we’re still gazing misty-eyed at the seemingly unending plethora of fan-made LOST artwork. Penney Design put together these ‘point-and-click’ adventure game designs which make us reminisce about the hours spent as kids playing Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion on our home PCs way back when.
Does anyone else wish this were a real, readily available game?

Brunky featured on One Page Love

Our site was lucky enough to be featured on One Page Love this week.
You can see our feature entry here: http://onepagelove.com/brunky

One Page Love showcases the best one page website designs on the internet.
Be they portfolios, online applications or even temp pages collecting email addresses for a launch, these designs aim to provide the user with enough information in a single page to make a decision and act upon it.

Big thanks to Rob at One Page Love for selecting us.

New Moo with new outfits too.

Our MOO MiniCards were so popular that when we quickly exhausted our supplies, we decided to add to the collectible factor by including new outfits for our mini-selves! Nine new outfits for each of the Brunky duo, some of which are based on our real-life wardrobe items so don’t be surprised if you see us looking a lot like our cards.

Brunky has an iPad

We are excited to be one of the few people in Perth to have an iPad and yes, it lives up to all the hype!

‘It won’t take you that long, surely?!’

“I think it’s a better idea and more appropriate for clients to understand they are paying for a solution and not for the time associated. A designers’ job is to solve problems. One of these problems is helping clients understand the creative process, and, in turn, the value behind design.”

——————–

Awesome article about the creative process and how it works (or doesn’t work) with hourly billing. As designers, it’s definitely up to us to change the perception of clients and the general public who may see paying for creative services as frivolous.

Moo Moo, Brunky cards featured.

Brunky Moo.com

“These MiniCards by Brunky are really well thought out. The caricatures on one side help you to remember who handed you the card, and the clean clear design on the reverse gets straight to the point. Cute, functional and very ‘keepable’.”

Our current batch of cards were featured on Moo.com, expect to see some new variations in the coming weeks.
